To publish Site/Lines, a literary journal aimed at an audience of readers who value thoughtful commentary and criticism relating to landscape history and design, a field that encompasses all cultural landscapes: gardens, parks, cities, suburbs, rural areas, and the humanized wilderness.
   
To sponsor lectures, conferences, study tours, exhibitions, and other events that further landscape studies.

To award annual grants for research, travel, and publication assistance to authors and publishers of books on landscape topics of interest to both the scholar and the general reader.
 

To award an annual prize for a book published within the previous three years on a landscape-related subject.

To collaborate with institutions and other organizations on the development of digital resources in order to make cultural landscape images and information available to students and educators.

To provide selected students with stipends for travel to conferences and research sites.
